Smyril Line: M/f Norröna
Continued from page 2

Timetables and fares

The Smyril Line Web site (see below) has a timetable for the Norröna's summer sailings, which run from late May until early September. (During the winter, the ship runs a limited service between Hanstholm and Tórshavn only.)

Fares are based on distance and cabin type, with additional charges for vehicles. Special tour packages are available, as are combined tickets with Color Line and Fjord Line ships. See the Web links below for details.

TIP: If you board the Norröna in Denmark, your biggest challenge may be in getting to Hanstholm. The port is in an isolated location on Jutland's West coast, and the easiest way to reach it is by car (although connections are possible via rail and bus).

Smyril Line
The Norröna's official Web site lists timetables and fares, along with technical information on the company's new ship (which went into service in 2003).

Shetland Islands
Lerwick, in the Shetland Islands, is another Norröna port. Here's what to expect if you disembark in the Shetlands.

Seyðisfjörður
The oldest city in Eastern Iceland welcomes the Norröna each week during summer. The town has a first-rate hospital emergency room and pharmacy, as we learned when our young son pierced his cheek with a stick less than an hour before the ship sailed. (Click the Union Jack for English-language information.)
