Jewel River Cruises
ABOVE: The cathedral and rue du Gros Horloge in Rouen, France, which the Jewel Imperial Blue will visit on every Seine cruise. Jewel River Cruises is a new "boutique luxury" cruise line founded by Albert Peter, the former CEO of Silversea Cruises. The line's first ship is the MS Jewel Imperial Blue, will enter service in May, 2008 with 7- to 10-day Seine river cruises between Paris and Rouen. The Jewel Imperial Blue will accommodate 80 passengers in 40 suites that are large by river-cruising standards, measuring 215 square feet for the 24 Jewel Suites, 322 square feet for the 14 Marquise Suites, and a whopping 473 square feet for the two Owners Suites. The ship will also have multiple restaurants, a cigar club, a wine bar, and a spa. Shore-excursion opportunities will include such "life experiences" as private behind-the-scenes tours of the Louvre and Opera Bastille, a personal culinary class with a Michelin-3-star chef, vintage wine tastings with master winemakers, a day at the wheel of a vintage Cabriolet, and a helicopter ride over the Champagne countryside.
