European Ferries

Much of Europe consists of islands, from Ireland and the British Isles north to Scandinavia and from the Balearics of Spain eastward through the Mediterranean, Adriatic, and Aegean. Ferries join these islands with each other, to the European mainland, to Africa, and to the Faroes and Iceland in the North Atlantic.

On the more popular routes, even short-haul ferries resemble cruise ships with bars, dining rooms, duty-free shops, and other amenities. On overnight routes such as Britain to Scandinavia or Italy to Greece, ships have accommodations ranging from couchettes to deluxe cabins as well as movie theatres, discos, and slot machines or casinos. Ferries are a great way to travel when you can spare the time.
