Canals of France publishes a barge cruisers' cookbook

A Week on the Water features the best recipes of luxury barges
Tango and Fandango.

Boutique luxury barges Tango and Fandango have always been known for their original, fine cuisine. So their new cookbook, A Week on the Water, is an exciting and mouth-watering event for travelers to France and cooks alike. 65 pages of great recipes and ingredients from the Languedoc, the region around the barges' cruise route on the Canal du Midi, are showcased in this "Culinary Scrapbook", compiled by owner-chefs Hazel Young and Daniel Sak.

Both Daniel and Hazel are graduates of the French National Cooking School in Beaune, France. They run numerous cooking seminars and culinary cruises aboard Fandango and Tango and oversee the boutique barge's extraordinary menus during their April thru October cruise season.

Daniel is also a local expert on the Languedoc wine scene, and drew on his personal network of wine producers and first-hand experience to include wine pairings for each of the recipes.

A Week on the Water includes such unique combinations such as Coquille of Seafood gratin with shrimp sauce or the more classical marinated Lamb Shanks (5 hour roasting time!). Many of the recipes rely on local ingredients from the Languedoc, such as Pears poached in amber Noilly Prat, the aperitif of long tradition produced in Marseillan, one of Tango and Fandango's ports of call.

Barges Tango and Fandango can be booked for 6 night cruises for 4 - 12 passengers between April and October. Prices start at $17,650.
