MS Nordstjernen cruise review

DAY 2 - Bockfjord
During the night, the Nordstjernen cruised around the Prins
Karls Forland of Spitsbergen to the Arctic Ocean. We spent the morning of our
cruise's second day in the
Bockfjord, an inlet with red-tinted mountains on the eastern side. The
official cruise log explains the pigmentation, which is hard to discern in this
photo:
"The red colour comes from when Svalbard was situated south
of the equator 350-400 million years ago. Then the climate was warmer and
the iron-rich sands oxidized."
