Chalon-sur-Saône

The Tour du Doyenné once was part of Chalon's St-Vincent cathedral, but it was moved to Paris after the French Revolution. Later, after U.S. railway millionaire Jay Gould bought the tower,  he was persuaded to return it to the people of Chalon-sur-Saône as a gift. The Tour du Doyenné now stands in a park on the Île St-Laurent next to the city's historic hospital.
