ABOVE: About two weeks before our cruise, Emerald Waterways sent us tickets and other documents in zippered cases. The documentation package included backpacks that we're still using for local errands, such as trips to the public library and grocery store.

In this photo diary, we've shared our personal snapshots from an eight-day, seven-night river cruise from Nuremberg to Trier, Germany on a ship of Emerald Waterways, Emerald Star.

Please note:
