MSC Magnifica in Venice

ABOVE: MSC Magnifica leaves Venice for a 7-day Eastern Mediterranean cruise.

  • 2012 Update: As of June, 2012, MSC Magnifica is being replaced by a new and larger ship, MSC Divina, on this Venice-to-Venice Eastern Mediterranean itinerary.

Venice waterfrontIn our MSC Poesia Eastern Mediterranean Cruise review, we described a 7-day roundtrip cruise from Venice aboard a ship of MSC Crociere (Italian for "MSC Cruises").

MSC Poesia has been replaced on the Eastern Mediterranean route by a newer ship, MSC Magnifica, which is a 2,500-passenger vessel of MSC's Musica class.

We were on the Zattere, a promenade alongside Venice's Giudecca Canal, when MSC Magnifica departed on its second roundtrip Eastern Mediterranean cruise of the 2010 season. Here are two video clips of the ship as it left Venice for Bari, Katakolon, Izmir, Istanbul, and Dubrovnik:
