The park between Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque has a fountain, and vendors sell corn on the cob (a popular Turkish treat).

In the park, we were commandeered by a polite middle-aged gentleman who introduced himself as a retired schoolteacher and followed us to the Blue Mosque. We later learned that his cousin owned a carpet shop nearby, and that he wanted us to visit the carpet shop after we'd seen the mosque.
