The Port of Izmir's cruise-ship pier had an industrial look, with warehouses, crane tracks, and containers stacked here and there. That wasn't especially surprising, because Izmir isn't a major turnaround port: for cruise lines, it's mainly a jumping-off place for bus tours to the well-preserved ruins at Ephesus, which are also accessible from the Turkish port of Kuşadasi.
