Norwegian Jade Cruise PhotosFrom: Norwegian Jade Cruise Review
Day 8: Civitavecchia, Italy (3)
Back on board, we grabbed photos of two cruise ships: Seabourn Sojourn (top) as it arrived in Civitavecchia, and Island Escape as it headed for the open sea.
Officers and crew on Seabourn Sojourn watched as their ship passed ours.
On Norwegian Jade, a passenger waited patiently for
our own departure.
For the first time during the cruise, we saw crew members sunning themselves near their pool in the bow.
Across the harbor from Norwegian Jade, a Tirrenia ferry was loading cars and trucks for an overnight voyage to Arbatax, Corsica.
In our cabin, the bridgecam showed us nose-to-nose with another ship as a tug prepared to escort Norwegian Jade from the port.
We were soon underway, passing Il Lazzaretto, an abandoned hospital from the Middle Ages that was heavily damaged by bombing in World War II.
A boatload of children waved to passengers on Norwegian Jade as we continued on toward the breakwater.
We retreated to the Grand Pacific dining room for an early dinner. From our table in the stern, we could see a tug following us with the Port of Civitavecchia in the distance.
During dinner, the sun appeared to sink into the
Tyrrhenian Sea.
