In
2010, Holland America Line is boosting its peak European capacity to five ships
accommodating more than 8,700 guests. HAL's European cruising season will begin
with an eastbound transatlantic cruise on April 3 aboard ms Eurodam; a
new ship, ms Nieuw Amsterdam, will enter the fleet in early July, and the
2010 European season will end with a final westbound transtlantic cruise aboard
ms Westerdam on October 25. Other ships in the European fleet will
include Noordam and Prinsendam.
Holland America Line's 2010 cruises in European waters range in length from
three days (the first leg of Nieuw Amsterdam's maiden voyage from Venice)
to 22 days (an Arctic cruise on Prinsendam).
Destinations cover the European map, with 54 cruises calling at 142 ports
from Norway to Turkey and Iceland to Russia. Travelers with a predilection for
souvenir luggage stickers, spoons, and charms can choose from a number of
back-to-back "Collectors' Voyage" sailings that make it possible to visit up to
17 countries on a 20-day cruise.
Just as important, Holland America Line will have a significant number of
roundtrip cruises during 2010, including return voyages from England (Greenwich
or Dover), the Netherlands (Rotterdam or Amsterdam), Venice, Rome, Athens, and
Copenhagen.
