Gustav Vigeland Fountain - Frogner Park

Oslo, Norway

Frogner Park is famous for its collection of some 200 bronze and granite sculptures by Gustav Vigeland, who sculpted the originals in clay over a period of nearly 40 years. The so-called "Vigeland Sculpture Park" is one of Oslo's most popular attractions.

The fountain, shown in the photo above, was the first of Vigeland's contributions to the park. It was commissioned in 1907 by the Oslo City Council, and it consists of a basin supported by six giants who are half-hidden by the curtain of water that spills over the basin's edge.
