Hohenwerfen
Fortress and Adventure
As you approach Werfen, you'll see this massive castle atop a steep hill in the middle of
the valley. The fortress was built in the 11th century; today, it offers guided tours and
houses the Salzburg State Falconry Center, which offers daily demonstrations. (The season
runs from early April to early November.)
Lonely
Planet Austria Map
Werfen is shown as a large dot south of Salzburg. (You really don't need a map to find
Werfen; the fortress is hard to miss when you're driving south on the A10 motorway.)
