Yes, if:

• You want a compact yet sturdy digital camera that's easy to carry and use.

• You plan to shoot in automatic point-and-shoot mode most of the time, but you want the flexibility of being able to change exposure settings manually or with preconfigured "Scene" modes.

• You want the convenience of the optional cradle, which makes it easy to charge the camera, transfer images to your Windows or Mac computer, display your photos and video clips on a TV, or use the camera as a Webcam.

No, if:

• Price is more important than flexibility, and all you need is a basic point-and-shoot camera. (If this is the case, browse through the dozens of entry-level 2- and 3-Megapixel models at camera shops and electronics stores.)

• You're a photo enthusiast, and you want an advanced camera with through-the-lens viewing plus the ability to control exposure and other parameters without having to cycle through menus. (Take a look at Fujifilm's FinePix S602, or--if you need higher resolution at a higher price--check the latest "prosumer" models from manufacturers such as Canon, Minolta, Nikon, and Olympus.)
