Norm Thompson
Carefree Traveler's SuedeTM
Jacket,
22377
I've
been a fan of Norm Thompson Outfitters since the mid-1970s, when they sold me an
Irish tweed hat that lasted more than 20 years. So I
figured I'd like the Carefree Traveler's SuedeTM
Jacket, and I wasn't wrong.
As the trademark symbol in the name might suggest, "Traveler's
Suede" isn't real suede--and that's what makes it so convenient for everyday
wear while traveling. The polyester microfiber fabric looks and feels like suede
leather, but it doesn't require any special care and won't get damaged if you're
caught in the rain. It's also lightweight (even with a full polyester lining), which makes it more
comfortable than natural suede when worn indoors or on humid days.
The Carefree Traveler's SuedeTM
Jacket comes in five colors: taupe, navy, chocolate, black, and cognac. I
recommend the taupe or chocolate, since those colors look most like natural
suede.
Price: US $199.
Look and fit: The jacket has
an American-style cut and drapes nicely.
Ease of care:
Wrinkle-resistant and washable.
Special features: Three
inside pockets, including a button-flap pocket and a zippered pocket for airline
tickets.
In a nutshell: An easy-care
synthetic suede jacket that you can wear with jeans or khakis in the
daytime and dress slacks in the evening.
