Packing and Luggage Accessories

photo LEFT: Magellan's Mesh Packing Cubes make it easy to organize a suitcase and prevent items from falling out during a security inspection.

Over the years, luggage manufacturers have devised an endless succession of zip-in or snap-on organizers, suit holders, locks, and other devices to make packing easier and more secure. But for many of us, it's simpler to junk the luggage makers' gizmos and use our own packing aids--which can range from tissue paper or plastic dry cleaner's bags (to prevent wrinkling) to nylon cable ties (in lieu of locks).

On my last few trips, I've experimented with packing accessories from Magellan's, a mail-order company that has a Web site at www.magellans.com. Several of the products really have made it easier to pack, unpack, and protect the contents of my suitcase, and others are worth considering if you travel often or expect to pack and unpack frequently on your next vacation.
