Siena three-star hotels

Hotel Antica Torre
The lobby of this hotel was once a potter's shop, and many of the building's medieval features were preserved during its renovation. The hotel is in a quiet street between the S. Spirito and S. Raimondo churches. Read the guest comments before booking.

Hotel Arcabaleno
The Arcabaleno is beyond the city's walls, making it more suitable as a base for touring than as a hotel for a city visit. See guest comments.

Hotel/Residence Borgo Grandaie
This hotel is in the countryside just beyond the railway station; I wouldn't recommend it for a city stay. It has 12 rooms in a converted farmhouse and 16 apartments in the old stables. See the very complimentary guest comments.

Hotel Chiusarelli
The Chiusarelli is near the Basilica di San Domenico, a short walk from the bus station and the main pedestrian route through the city center. It's a good choice for motorists, since it offers parking within the walls and is easy to reach by car. See guest comments.

Hotel Duomo
The Duomo is in a 300-year-old building near the Via di Città, the Piazza del Campo, and the cathedral. It's about a 15-minute walk from the bus station, or you can take a cab. Free parking is nearby. See guest comments.

Hotel Italia
The Italia is a modern hotel outside the walled city on the Via Cavour, near the Antiporto di Camollia. It has a parking lot and is within walking distance of the city center. See guest comments.

Hotel Moderno
This hotel is just outside Siena's walls by the Porta Ovile, where an escalator leads to the Piazza San Francesco. Indoor and outdoor parking are available. See guest comments and hotel site.

Hotel Minerva
Christine Coté of Language Studies Abroad (see article) gives the Minerva a high rating. The hotel's location at the edge of the city center is convenient for motorists. See guest comments and hotel site.

Palace Hotel Due Ponti
It's a 2-km haul into town from this business-oriented hotel, but the location may be acceptable if you plan to spend most of your time touring the countryside. The hotel is modern, with two restaurants and a swimming pool.

Sangallo Park Hotel
This new 50-room hotel is 1.5 km from Siena's historic center, but you can leave your car at the hotel and take a bus into town for local sightseeing. The Sangallo Park is on a hill overlooking the city and has a swimming pool. See guest comments.

Hotel Santa Caterina
Twenty-two rooms occupy a villa from the 1700s on a road outside of town. The Porta Romana is fairly close by, and you can retreat to the hotel's garden after a long day of dodging tour groups. See guest comments and hotel site.

Hotel Vico Alto
This is another hilltop hotel outside of town, beyond the railroad station. It caters to groups with a large restaurant and bus parking.

Hotel Villa Liberty
If you don't mind a 10- or 15-minute walk into town, this converted mansion may strike your fancy. It's just beyond the Fortezza, or fort, on the Viale Vittorio Veneto. See guest comments.

Hotel Villa Piccola Siena
This hotel is fairly close to the Siena Nord exit of the Siena-Florence motorway and a few hundred meters from the railroad station, which makes it handy if you're just passing through. However, it isn't the best choice for a city stay. See guest comments.
