Vennerbo
Bed and Breakfast

Sigtuna, Sweden

ABOVE: Mona and Björn Sjörving have turned a rural farmstead into a low-key country resort. INSET: One of the three resident dogs plays with his teddy bear.

photoFor Mona and Björn Sjörving, Vennerbo represents a labor of love, not just a livelihood. After retiring from the 9-to-5 life, the couple bought the small farmstead just 13 km (8 miles) from Stockholm's Arlanda Airport and developed it into a country retreat for city families and visitors from abroad.

Vennerbo is only five minutes from Sigtuna, the oldest medieval town in Sweden, which makes it a convenient place to spend a night or two after touring the country by car. You can explore the sights, shops, and restaurants of Sigtuna, visit the three palaces in the neighborhood, and enjoy a taste of rural Sweden before you drop off your rental car at Arlanda and fly home.
