Silver Whisper
Silversea "Scotland's Tattoo" Cruise

Port of Copenhagen - Langelinie

Most cruise ships that visit Copenhagen are berthed at Langelinie, a pier just north of the Little Mermaid and about 4 km or 2.5 miles from Tivoli and the main railroad station. Copenhagen's popularity as a cruise port has grown enormously in the last few years, and more than 250 ship calls were scheduled for the 2003 season.

Although Langelinie is sometimes referred to as the "Copenhagen Cruise Terminal," it's less a terminal than a long quay with shops and an information center operated by the Copenhagen Tourist Office. Still, it's more convenient than piers in most large cities, and you can easily walk to the major tourist sights along Copenhagen's attractive waterfront. (Alternatively, you can use your cruise ship's shuttle bus, public transportation, or a taxi.)

If you've got an hour or two to kill before departure, or if you'd rather not haul purchases from the city center to the ship, allow time for a visit to the Langelinie Quay Shopping Arcade. Beneath the stone arches of Langelinie's old warehouses, you'll find shops and outlet stores that sell porcelain, amber, Danish clogs, jewelry, clothing, and other products.

TIP: Royal Copenhagen operates a Copenhagen Cruise Lounge in its store at Amagertorv 6 on the Strřget in central Copenhagen. The lounge offers free soft drinks and mineral water to cruise passengers. Toilets are available, and the hostess will answer your questions, make dinner reservations at restaurants, or store items for you while you wander around town. (The lounge is open whenever ships are in port during the cruise season, except on national holidays. It's one flight up from the ground floor next to the Christmas Shop. Also, if you're hungry and aren't on a tight budget, try the wonderful Danish sandwiches, seafood, and salads in Royal Copenhagen's new ground-floor café.)
