Florence: The dome of Florence's cathedral, or
Duomo, consists of inner and outer shells. Steps between the two shells follow
the dome's curvature from the main body of the church to the observation gallery
on top of the dome. (In this admittedly murky photo, the steps are just
visible between the handrails.)
