The Hotel Writes
"The Ambasciatori Palace
Hotel, which became known as the Ambassadors' Palace at the turn of the century
due to the numerous diplomats and businessmen among its patrons, in 1993 has
celebrated its 90th birthday. It is a historical building located on one of the
most famous streets in the world. In the heart of Rome, in the business centre,
it offers its guests the very best of traditional Italian hospitality. Designed
by Carlo Busiri Vici between 1900 and 1903, it was restored in 1993 to give back
the look that Busiri Vici intended, using the existing decorations to their best
advantage. All the plaster work of the cornices, the boxed ceilings, the
capitals and the arches have been restored tu their former splendour: the
Brazilian granite columns, the marble floorine with the multicoloured mosaic
surround and the wrought iron handrail on the large central staircase."
Review
Jamie Dunford Wood:
Of all the grand Via Veneto hotels, the Ambasciatori is our favourite. The decor
of the rooms is understated, and they are well proportioned. The most basic
style has wood parquet floors with the odd Indian runner, pale coloured fabric
walls with matching upholstery and simple dark wood furniture. More luxurious
rooms come with thick carpeting and have twin sinks. Rooms have wall mounted
lights and few pictures, and many have fireplaces - you should ask for these, as
they tend to be the best proportioned, and there are a number of corporately
furnished rooms without them which should be avoided. The price of the rooms is
affected largely by the size, not the style of décor.
