The Boat Shed at Ardanaiseig is "Scotland's Most Romantic Hotel"

Rural luxury starts at $150 per person per night

photoKILCHRENAN, BY OBAN, ARGYLL -- Whisk yourselves away to a remote and wildly seductive corner of Scotland to unwind, relax and enjoy some of Scotland's best cuisine. Set against a dramatic backdrop of craggy Highland peaks and Scottish lochs, the new luxury Boat Shed at Ardanaiseig, which was voted Scotland's Most Romantic Hotel 2006, offers the perfect waterside escape for insatiable romantics.

Guests travel to the Boat Shed by seaplane, by train, by car or by boat, and on arrival they dine on champagne and oysters, followed by indulgent days of feasting on freshly caught seafood and game, romantic strolls in the wood, breakfast in bed and a private butler service attending to every need as well as transport around the grounds in a self-drive golf buggy.

Ardanaiseig's dramatic setting offers the ideal isolation to get away from it all. From the jetty below the Boat Shed you can take out a rowing boat, a poetry book and a bottle of champagne, and woo away the afternoon. The chefs will prepare a gourmet hamper for guests who would like to picnic on the boat or on one of the loch's many secluded islands. Guests can also arrange further exploration further afield by seaplane.

Set apart from the hotel, the Boat Shed offers contemporary designer accommodation, with a floor-to-ceiling glass wall giving breathtaking panoramic views of the loch from the sitting room and king size bed on the mezzanine. The Boat Shed has all the modern luxuries including a small kitchen and spacious sitting room with a dining table, so the only reason to leave this haven is for the irresistible dinner in the excellent restaurant in the hotel.

Ardanaiseig has sixteen other sumptuous bedrooms in the main house, all individually decorated with original fabrics and antiques, and one featuring a cast iron roll top bath in the heart of the bedroom.

More figures and facts:

  • The Boat Shed starts at £150 per person, bed and breakfast. (Three nights for two from June-October.)

  • Ardanaiseig boasts exceptional reviews in the Good Food Of Scotland Guide, Scotland the Best, the Good Hotel Guide, and ScottishFoodGuide.com. The Chef de Cuisine, Gary Goldie, has also won several accolades for the hotel, including the Chef Medaille D'Or 2005 and 2 AA Rosettes.
