MATCHhotels.com helps UK football fans find rooms near stadiums

A new British Web site, MATCHhotels.com, helps football fans locate and book accommodation near football stadiums. The site displays the precise location of hotels, bed and breakfasts, guesthouses and apartments on maps centred on over 130 UK stadiums.

At launch, MATCHhotels.com compares the prices of six online accommodation providers. This gives fans access to over 5000 hotels, bed and breakfasts and guesthouses. By aggregating data from multiple sources, fans see more availability than checking individual sites alone.

Fans can check match day availability and see accommodation displayed with precise distance information to the football stadium. Accommodation is listed with prices from each of the six sites searched allowing fans to compare prices and book the cheapest rooms online in minutes.

According to MatchHotels.com Director Ben Jackson, "Fans want to support their teams but escalating ticket prices and travel expenses do not add up financially for 90 short minutes of action. When fans can combine an away game with a weekend away the economics make more sense and teams get more travelling support."

Having worked in travel for 6 years, Ben has witnessed the rise of no-frills airlines and accommodation-only hotel reservation companies and the demise of the package holiday market. Now he sees the opportunity to disrupt the existing market of bundled football travel packages. Ben added: "A few travel companies offer football related services, but bundle match tickets and accommodation into an expensive package and cater almost exclusively to Premiership teams and international matches."
