Monaco offers music and prizes by radio in New York

WQXR 96.3 FM listeners can call in to win a prize package during “Monaco Takes New York” festivities May 17-21, 2004

NEW YORK - Much to the delight of classical music lovers, “Making Music in Monaco” will once again let listeners savor the legendary sounds and culture of Monaco by simply turning on the radio. Starting Saturday, March 20, 2004 from 12-1:00 PM and airing each ensuing Saturday through June 5, the hour-long music program features performers and composers with ties, present or past, to the Principality of Monaco. The program also corresponds with Monaco’s annual Spring Arts Festival, held this year from April 2-18, 2004.

The series spotlights performers appearing in Monaco this season, as well as a retrospective of the Principality’s musical legacy through noted recordings. Among the highlights this year will be interviews with opera star Vassily Sinaisky and ballet director Jean-Christophe Maillot. A long list of highly-regarded composers, conductors and performers will be featured, including such greats as Georges Enesco, Leonard Bernstein, Richard Strauss Kent Magano and, of course, the legendary Monte Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra.

Answer trivia questions to win a free lunch

In addition, Making Music in Monaco is offering listeners a chance to experience the best of Monaco right here in New York during Monaco Takes New York, a weeklong list of events showcasing the very best of the Principality at venues throughout New York City. This year’s celebrations are scheduled from May 17-21 and, during Making Music in Monaco, listeners can call in to win a gourmet lunch for two at one of the participating, highly-acclaimed restaurants in Midtown Manhattan during Culinary Week.

Listeners can win the prize package by calling in to answer trivia questions about the Principality of Monaco. Callers are encouraged to visit www.visitmonaco.com to search for the answers as well as further information on events scheduled for this coming May.
