SWISS upgrades airline seats throughout its European
fleet
New Recaro seats offer improved legroom and comfort
Zurich, April 10, 2008 -- New SWISS Business and SWISS Economy seats have
been placed throughout SWISS' European fleet of 52 aircraft offering passengers
flying within Europe greater legroom and seating comfort.
SWISS announced this seat refurbishment program last October for its European
fleet beginning with the Airbus A320. Since then, the entire short-haul Airbus
fleet (A319, A320, A321), and all Avro RJ100s of the Swiss European Air Lines
subsidiary have been equipped with the new seats. The new Recaro seats consist
of carbon frames and leather upholstery. Additional leg room was made available
by placing the seat pocket at the rear higher than on previous seating models.
As the new seats are constructed of lighter materials, there is substantially
lower aircraft weight, too, which permits corresponding further reductions in
fuel burn. The investment in these new seats is a further component in SWISS'
ongoing quality drive. By continuously investing in its product, both in the air
and on the ground, SWISS is steadily consolidating and further refining its
position as a leading quality airline.
