The Wayfarers offers a US $800 discount on its Vienna-to-Prague walk

Book by May 29 for savings on an eight-day journey through the modern Czech Republic

Newport, RI -- The Wayfarers invites walkers to explore the Czech Republic this summer with 3 eight-day Walks crossing from Austria into the Czech Republic, from Vienna to Prague. Beginning and ending in two of Europe’s oldest cities and traversing rural villages infused with folklore and tradition, the Walks treat participants to scenery marked by wooded hills, rare flowers and tranquil lakes. Accommodations are hand-picked for their charm, comfort and historic heritage. Local cuisine and regional wines are featured at every dinner.

Offered July 11 - 18 and September 12 - 29, 2009, the Vienna to Prague Walk is priced at US $3,895 per person pre-discount, based on double occupancy. With a booking in full by May 29, 2009, the price is reduced by a "currency bonu" of $800 per couple, reflecting the continued strengthening of the U.S. dollar versus the euro.

Itinerary Highlights

The program begins in Vienna, Austria, from which walkers will cross into the Czech Republic’s rustic countryside marked by Baroque architecture and majestic landscaped parkland. The schedule also includes an exploration of the unspoiled town of Cesky Krumlov, beer tasting at one of Europe’s oldest breweries, and a walk along the banks of the Vltava River, the country’s longest river and the inspiration for composer Bedrdich Smetana’s symphonic poem. The trip ends in the capital city of Prague with a walk across the famous Charles Bridge and a visit to Prague Castle, the largest ancient castle in the world.

The Details

Vienna to Prague is an 8-day/7-night program of moderate walking that covers 7 to 10 miles a day of forest walks and open country, with firm paths and some brisk hill-walking. Walkers will stay in charming hotels that exemplify the history and charm of the area including a former 16th-century monastery, a former synagogue, and a hotel dating from the 1400s.
