European Tours

ABOVE: Church of the Archangel,
Moscow, Russia.
Europe for Visitors is
designed primarily for the independent traveler. Still, there are times when
even a do-it-yourself traveler may find it convenient to take a tour. Sometimes a tour organizer can
arrange visits or activities that aren't available to the solo tourist;
and on a biking or hiking trek, it can be convenient to have someone else haul the luggage
from one village to the next. The pages below list tours that fall outside
the mass-market If It's Tuesday, This Must Be Belgium package
arrangement. If you don't see what you're looking for, try the European
listings at TravelDazzle.com, a
site which specializes in small group tours that aren't available from the
typical mainstream travel agency.
TIPS:
-
Before booking a tour, read two Europe for Visitors
articles: Europe On Your Own
describes the benefits of traveling independently, and
Rick
Steves on Group Travel is an interview that tells how to get the best
touring value for your money. (The group-travel industry is rife with guide
kickbacks and other scams, so shop carefully when booking a tour.)
