This American company offers one-stop shopping for more than 140 escorted and self-guided bike tours in 27 European countries. Local rates tend to be much lower than prices from U.S. tour operators.

Adrian's Edinburgh Cycle Tours
Tour the Old Town and New Town by bike in three hours, with stops along the way. (Adrian Skivington claims that his tours are suitable for bikers of all ages, including children.)

Alp Active
Five-day tours are based in the French alpine resorts of Les Gets and Morzine. Rates include transportation by Channel ferry or from the Geneva Airport.

Andiamo Adventours
This U.S.-based company's Swiss and Italian bike tours are geared toward recreational cyclists. 

Bicycle Beano
Three- and seven-day tours of Wales and the Welsh Borders emphasize vegetarian cuisine (although meat is available for carniverous cyclists and companions). 

Bike & Barge Holland
Cruise and sleep in a barge, with daily guided excursions on a bicycle. Bikes are included, or bring your own.

Black Forest Vosges Bicycle Tours
Cycle through Germany's Black Forest, France's Vosges mountains, and the Swiss Alps "with German efficiency, French flair, Swiss Quality and Canadian hospitality."

Blue Marble Travel

Breaking Away
In addition to conventional bike tours, Breaking Away offers "RacePak tours" that let you travel with (and watch) the Giro d'Italia and the Tour de France.
