The Trattoria Antichi Cancelli (Via Faenza 73R, tel. 055 218927) offers a good assortment of Florentine and Tuscan dishes at reasonable prices. Figure about L35,000 or EUR 18 per person for pasta, a meat dish, dessert, the house wine, and mineral water. (TIP: Don't be afraid to ask the waiter for recommendations.)

Nearby, the Trattoria Antellesi (Via Faenza 9R, tel. 055 216990) offers Tuscan cuisine at similar prices. Primi piatti average L10,000-14,000; main courses are in the L16,000-27,000 range. I had dinner there with Chris Coté of Language Studies Abroad, with menu selections that included an excellent pasta, stuffed lamb, and a chestnut pudding for dessert.
