Two Hotels in Florence

We normally don't offer hotel recommendations, for several reasons:

• We aren't paid to examine hotel rooms, and it isn't economic for us to spend our travel time emulating a Michelin inspector or an author of hotel guidebooks like Karen Brown.

• Our role isn't to tell you where to stay; instead, it's to provide general information and links to a variety of Web resources to help you make your own travel-planning decisions.

• When we travel in Europe, we don't always stay in hotels. (We often linger in each city or town, renting a vacation apartment or cottage instead of a hotel room.)

Still, every rule deserves an exception, and in this article we'll tell you about two mid-priced hotels that Durant visited during stopovers in Florence on his way to and from a language school in Siena, Italy.
