Tip:

Many Florence hotels are within walking distance of the Santa Maria
Novella railroad station. Given a choice, we'd opt for a hotel away from the
station square, which has more traffic than charm. Still, if you're staying
only a day or two and have an early departure, being close to the station can be
convenient--and the area isn't dangerous; it just seems out of place in the city
of Medici architecture and Michelangelo's David.
