Florence is a great town for
shoppers, thanks to a seemingly limitless supply of department stores,
boutiques, and markets. Hours vary, but in the heart of the city, you won't have
trouble finding shops that are open at lunchtime or on weekends.
Tip: Be cautious about buying fake designer
handbags, sunglasses, and other knock-offs from street vendors. Purchasing
counterfeit goods is illegal, and clueless tourists occasionally get hit with
massive fines.
