It's easy to plan your own sightseeing itineraries with the help of a good guidebook, a map, and--if you're leaving the city--the bus and train timetables that are linked from my Florence transportation page. Guided tours are worth considering if you have limited time, or if you prefer to enjoy the sights without figuring out how to reach them.
