"DDRZeit"

Street signs from the DDR (Deutsches Demokratisches Republik) era are preserved in the city museum. Although names such as "Street of the Erfurt Party Days" and "Karl-Marx-Allee" have been changed, one important street retains its name from the DDRZeit: Juri-Gagarin-Ring, which honors the Soviet cosmonaut who was the first human in space in 1961.
