Siena four-star hotels

Hotel Athena
The Athena is on the Via Paolo Mascagni, just inside the city walls near the Porta Laterna gate. It offers parking--a real plus in Siena. See guest comments.

Hotel Garden
The city's walls are about 1 km from this hilltop 18th Century villa complex. The hotel offers a pool, tennis courts, parking, and a restaurant with a terrace overlooking Siena. See guest comments.

Hotel La Residenza delle Badesse
This Best Western affiliate isn't actually in Siena; it's near the Badesse exit of the Siena-Florence Autostradale. Accommodations consist of 27 mini-apartments for up to four guests, each with a kitchenette and terrace. A restaurant, mini-market, playground, and small pool are on the premises. See guest comments.

Jolly Hotel Excelsior
This hotel is located at the edge of the city center, where parking and easy road access make it handy for motorists. The back of the hotel offers views of the Tuscan countryside.

Park Hotel Siena Villa Gori Golf Club
Seventy rooms and suites occupy a renovated 16th Century villa that offers a view of the Sienese skyline. The four-star hotel's amenities include a swimming pool, tennis courts, a 6-hole par 3 golf course, and convenient parking. See guest comments.

Villa Scacciapensieri Villagio-Albergo
During the day, a public bus runs every 15 minutes from the villa's gates to the city center. The hotel--converted from a 19th Century villa--has three suites, four singles, and 24 double rooms, along with a restaurant (closed Wednesdays) where you can eat outdoors in fine weather. The landscaped grounds include gardens, a swimming pool, and a tennis court.
