This stylish hotel is a few blocks inland from the Seine, just east of the
Sorbonne on the rue des Écoles. The Atmosphères has a modern decor, and
its amenities include an "honesty bar," a gym, a sauna, and afternoon tea in the

Best Western Le Jardin de Cluny ****
The modern Jardin de Cluny is a block south of the Boulevard Saint-Germain, close to
the Maubert-Mutualité Métro station (Line 10). RER lines B and C are also nearby.
The hotel has 39 rooms. One of the more unusual amenities
is bluetooth speakers for your smartphone (available in deluxe king rooms and
junior suites). All rooms are air-conditioned, breakfast is served in an
historic vaulted cellar, and the lobby has comfortable seating with a small
library and bar.
39-room boutique hotel is on the Boulevard Saint-Michel, close to the Seine and
the Île de la
Cité. (Notre Dame is just over five minutes away on foot.) The
St-Michel Métro and RER station is close by, offering direct service from
Charles de Gaulle Airport.
The hotel's style blends the traditional with the modern.

Grand Hotel Saint-Michel ****
With a location that's about a block east of the Luxembourg Garden, the Grand
Hotel Saint-Michel is convenient to the Sorbonne and the Panthéon. The

Airport on the RER's "B" line). The Jardin du Luxembourg, Sorbonne, and Panthéon are all close by.
All 20 double, triple, and quad rooms are soundproofed.
You'll find an "honesty bar" in the lobby, along with free tea or coffee and
pastries from 4 to 6 p.m. daily.
Dames du Panthéon ****

Hotel Mercure Paris Notre Dame Saint Germain des Prés ****
Mercure is a popular midscale hotel group with European business and leisure
travelers. The Mercure Paris Notre Dame Saint Germain des Prés is a good
example of its type, with contemporary-style double and twin rooms, a bar, and a
choice of two optional breakfasts: buffet or continental.
The hotel is on the Rue du Sommerard, about a block from one of our favorite
Paris museums: the Musée de Cluny - Musée National du Moyen Age.
(The museum's medieval garden, which doesn't require a ticket, is a great place
to relax between sightseeing excursions.)
Note: All rooms have coffee- and tea-making facilities, and
"Privilege Rooms" come with Nespresso machines.
Hotel Mercure La Sorbonne Saint Germain des Prés ****
additional outpost of the popular French hotel group is next
to the Université Paris-Sorbonne. Like its sister property described
above, it's a short distance from the Musée de Cluny - Musée
National du Moyen Åge.
The nearby Luxembourg RER station
offers train service to CDG and Orly Airports.
The hotel has an ultramodern interior with 47
double rooms (all pet-friendly). Hypoallergenic rooms are available on request.
The pet-friendly Hotel Monge has 30 double, twin, and triple rooms. It's located
west of the Jardin des Plantes near the Place Monge Métro station.
The hotel's decor seeks to recapture the atmosphere of a 19th
Century bourgeois mansion, with parquet flooring, marble fireplaces, and

The hotel has 27 rooms, including several doubles and twins
with terraces and panoramic views. Connecting rooms are also available, making
the hotel convenient for families.
All rooms have coffee- and tea-making facilities (an uncommon
perk in Paris).
Henry IV ****
This 4-star hotel (which Booking.com mistakenly labels a 3-star hotel) is just
south of the Rue des Écoles, within a short walk of the Boulevard St-Germain.
A pretty neighborhood park, the
Langevin, is in the adjoining block.
The highly-rated hotel has 8 rooms and 5 two-room apartments with kitchenettes.
Amenities include free laptop loan, a massage machine, tea time in the lobby,
and a courtyard with garden.
The Select Hotel Rive Gauche is extremely popular with guests, thanks in part to
its location: The hotel is located right next to the main buildings of the
Sorbonne, only a few blocks from two RER stations that offer rail access to CDG
Airport, Orly Airport, the Eiffel Tower, and Versaille.
hotel has 65 rooms and junior suites, all decorated in a French contemporary
style. Public rooms include a glass-roofed winter garden, modern lounges (with a
fireplace), a bar with adjoining library, and a breakfast room in the vaulted
Villa Pantheon ****
This 59-room hotel is on the Rue des Écoles, a street that runs parallel to the Boulevard Saint-Germain
in the northern reaches of the 5th arrondissement. The Seine, the Île de la
Cité, and the Île Saint-Louis
are all within easy walking distance.
The Villa Pantheon has a British theme, with leather
armchairs, plenty of woodwork, and a fondness for mature gentlemen with well-cut
suits and moustaches (see photo above).
In addition to welcoming Caledonophiles with a "So Scottish"
bar, the hotel imports the look of Scotland into its room decor. (If you can't
wangle an invitation to Balmoral, book a room at the Hotel Villa Pantheon
Hotel Abbatial St-Germain ***
The Abbatial is on the Boulevard Saint-Germain, a few blocks inland from the
Seine, the Île de la Cité, and the Île Saint-Louis. It has a
variety of room types, including triples, connecting rooms for families or
friends, and junior suites.
Hotel Agora Saint-Germain ***
This "design hotel" is on the Rue des Bernardins, a
north-south street that leads inland from the Seine and the Île de la Cité. From
the hotel, it's about a five-minute walk to Notre Dame Cathedral. The nearest Métro stop,
Maubert-Mutualité, is even closer.
The Agora has double, twin, and triple rooms, some with
street views and others overlooking the pretty courtyard.
Hotel Albe Saint-Michel ***
The Albe has 43 rooms that range from singles to junior suites. The latter
can acccommodate three people (in three single beds, or in a double and a single).
The hotel is located on the Rue de la Harpe, only slightly inland from the
Seine. The Saint-Michel - Notre Dame Métro and RER station is just a few
short blocks away, making it easy to reach Charles de Gaulle or Orly Airport by
Best Western Quartier Latin Pantheon ***
The Quartier Latin Pantheon
outpost of the Best Western group occupies a renovated historic building, with
French contemporary furnishings and perks such as coffee- and tea-making
facilities in the rooms and a hammam (steam bath) for guests.
The hotel is on the Rue Monge, close to the Place Monge Métro station.
Cluny Square ***
This small but elegant hotel is in the heart of the Latin Quarter, at the
junction of Boulevard Saint-Michel and Boulevard Saint-Germain. RER and Métro
stations are within a few blocks, providing access to three underground lines
and RER "B" airport trains, and RER "C" trains to Versailles.
Some of the twins and doubles have balconies. For a cozy stay
in the building's former attics, book the Voyage or Romance Suite (the latter
with a view of the Eiffel Tower in the distance).
Hotel des Arènes ***
Some of the rooms at this hotel on the Rue Monge overlook the
Arènes de Lutèce, a Roman
amphitheatre in the middle of the 5th arrondissement.
The hotel itself is a
classic Parisian building with 52 air-conditioned singles, doubles, twins, and
triples. (The Hotel des Arènes is unusually baby- and toddler-friendly;
guests can borrow baby baths, diaper-changing pads, and strollers from

Grands Hommes ***
The "Hotel of the Great Men" is adjacent to the Panthéon, a
monument that celebrates notable Frenchmen (and a token pair of women).
Rooms are decorated in Empire style. Pricier rooms overlook the Place du
Panthéon, and some have small balconies. If your budget allows, consider
the "Romantic Junior Suite" on the hotel's 6th floor, which includes a private
terrace with panoramic views of Paris.
"Style" is the watchword at this hotel just east of the
Jardin du Luxembourg and
next door to the Universié Paris-Sorbonne. The decor is modern without
being austere, and it's thoroughly French. (You won't wake up thinking you're in
Stockholm or Helsinki.)
Rooms range from small but comfortable "Design Classic"
accommodations to large top-floor rooms with spectacular views and a choice of a
shower or claw-foot tub. Every room is equipped with an iMac or Mac Mini
Nations Saint-Germain ***
The Hotel des Nations is on the Rue Monge, close to the
Arènes de Lutèce and two Métro stations
in a neighborhood of the Left Bank where residents outnumber tourists.
Rooms range from singles to quads. All windows are
double-glazed to minimize street noise.
Note: If you're
gluten-intolerant, the Hotel des Nations Saint-Germain has you covered at

This family-run hotel by the Jardin du Luxembourg occupies a
stone building that dates back to 1876. Some of the building's 19th Century
murals and other features have been restored during subsequent renovations.
The hotel's 30 rooms are air-conditioned and have been
modernized with marble-tiled bathrooms. All rooms have tea- and coffeemaking
facilities (something you can't take for granted in Paris).
Hotel Europe Saint-Séverin - Paris Notre Dame ***
The Europe Saint-Séverin has a great location: It's just off
the Boulevard Saint-Michel on the Rue Saint-Séverin, only a couple of blocks
from the Seine. An extremely short walk will take you to the river and the
Saint-Michel - Notre Dame Métro and RER station, which is one of the major
underground transit hubs on the Left Bank.
Some of the hotel's rooms have balconies. The Junior Suite on
the top floor offers rooftop views of Paris, an open bathrom with Jacuzzi, and a
stairway leading up to a bedroom overlooking Notre Dame Cathedral (which is
illuminated at night).
Excelsior Latin ***
hotel is close to the Sorbonne, a few meters east of the Jardin du Luxembourg.
From the hotel's 18th Century building, you can reach the Seine and Notre-Dame
Cathedral in about 10 minutes on foot (or maybe a bit faster, if the traffic

With 54 modern-style rooms on a quiet street just below the
Boulevard Saint-Germain, the Home Latin is a handy base for sightseeing. It's
also convenient to the Sorbonne, which is extremely close by.
Solo travelers will appreciate the singles, while families
and friends can enjoy the three- and four-person apartments (which are suites
without kitchens but with two bedrooms). All rooms and apartments have coffee-
and tea-making facilities.
Libertel Austerlitz Jardin des Plantes ***
member of the Libertel group--formerly the Hotel Gare d'Austerlitz--is across
the street from the railroad station of the same name, making the hotel
convenient if you have an early train to catch.

Moderne Saint-Germain ***
"Le M. Saint-Germain" has 45 French contemporary (a.k.a. modern) rooms tucked into a
traditional Parisian building on the Rue des Écoles, due south of
Notre-Dame as you look at your Paris map.
All rooms are classified as "Superior," so the only
differences are in decor and sleeping accommodation (single, double, twin, or
Qualys Hotel Apolonia Mouffetard ***
As the name suggests, this small hotel is located on the Rue
Mouffetard, one of the oldest streets in Paris. Its 42 rooms are built around a
quiet courtyard, and they range from singles to spacious "executive rooms" on
the top floor beneath the roof.
The nearest Métro station is Place Monge on Line 7, which offers convenient
transportation to the Louvre and other sights on the Right Bank.
Note: The hotel isn't air-conditioned, so the rooms on the
top floor could heat up uncomfortably on sunny midsummer days.
Hotel Saint Christophe ***
St. Christopher is the patron saint of this quintessentially French on the Rue
Lacépède, which runs west from the northwest corner of the Jardin
des Plantes. The closest Métro station is Place Monge, a block to the south.
The Saint Christophe offers single, double, and twin rooms,
with adjoining rooms for families or friends who are traveling together.
Hotel Saint Jacques ***
This traditionally-furnished hotel has 36 rooms, including a
number of adjoining or connecting rooms. You'll also find a small library and a
bar on the premises (the latter named after Toulouse-Lautrec, an artist who
didn't mind a tipple).
The hotel is on the Rue des Écoles, just south of the Maubert-Mutualité Métro
stop (Line 10).
Hotel Vendôme Saint-Germain ***
This traditional hostelry was reborn as a stylish "designer
hotel" after a complete, top-to-bottom renovation in 2016.
All of its rooms are soundproof, air-conditioned, and
equipped with coffee/tea-making facilities and refrigerators. One room features
a roll-in shower for guests in wheelchairs.
The hotel is on the Rue d'Arras, a small street just below the Rue des Écoles
east of the Rue Monge. The Cardinal Lemoine Métro station is only a
couple of minutes away on foot.
