Paris Sightseeing Boats

ABOVE: The Iéna, a modern boat in the Vedettes de Paris fleet, cruises past the Eiffel Tower. INSET BELOW: The vintage sightseeing boat Paname on the Seine, and an electric commuter boat on the Canal St-Denis.

Vedettes de Paris

Paname photoThis ISO 4001-certified company uses smaller vessels than most of its competitors do, and its vintage boats--such as the Paname, shown at right--have special appeal for boatlovers, romantics, and traditionalists.

One-hour "Discovery" sightseeing cruises depart one to three times per hour, depending on the season. Vedettes de Paris also has an evening "Champagne Cruise," a "Kids' Cruise" (French narration only), and special itineraries from time to time.

electric boat photoThe company hopes to introduce electric boats to the Seine in the near future; it's already running two navettes electriques on the Canal St-Denis for commuters between Paris and Aubervilliers.

Location: Vedettes de Paris has a ticket office at Port de Suffren, just to the west of the Pont de l'Alma on the Eiffel Tower side of the river. (You can see a map on the company's Web site.)
