Paris: This view of the Musée d'Orsay recalls the museum's earlier life as a railroad station. The station, which opened in 1900, was obsolete by 1939 and served as a firing range, parking lot, theatre, auction house, etc. before narrowly escaping demolition in 1961. It reopened as an art museum in 1986.
