Civitavecchia port entrance

When it isn't serving as a venue for fashion shows and music spectacles, the Port of Civitavecchia is bustling with cruise ships, car ferries, containerships, and bulk carriers.

The port's old south entrance is at the foot of the Viale Garibaldi in downtown Civitavecchia, between the Forte Michelangelo fortress and McDonald's. (For up-to-date information about the port for cruise passengers, see our Civitavecchia Cruise & Ferry Port article.)
