Rome 2-Star and 1-Star Hotels

From: Rome

Rome two-star hotels

City Guest House
This two-star guest house is in the Tuscolana district, a 10- to 15-minute Metro ride from the city center. Rates are reasonable, the cheerfully decorated rooms have private baths, and the nearby Aqueduct Park offers impressive ruins in an urban green space. See guest comments.

RomAntica
This catchily titled property (its name means "Ancient Rome") was redecorated in 2002. All rooms have private baths. See guest comments, which include the remark: "Above what I would have expected for a 2 star - room serviced every day - new towels - MTV channel!"

Rubino
The family-run Hotel Rubino is in the historic center of Rome, not far from the Termini Station. Rooms have private baths and satellite TV. Family-size rooms are available. See guest comments.

Albergo del Sole al Biscione
This hotel in the historic center claims to be Rome's oldest.  (Note: Don't confuse this budget albergo with the four-star Albergo del Sole al Pantheon, which also is one of Rome's oldest hotels.)

Rome one-star hotels

Cressy
The Hotel Cressy has bedrooms with shared or private bath, plus men's and women's dormitories with 5 beds. It's on the fifth floor of an elevator building 100 meters (about the length of a football  field) from the Termini station.

Cristina House
This group offers four "low-fare" hotels in Rome: the Cristina, Casacristina, Conte Bed & Breakfast, and Conte 2 Hostel.

Colors
This fairly new hostel just north of the Vatican offers dorm beds with linens, "plentiful showers," kitchen privileges, and no curfew or lockout.

Fuggetta & Vichi
The Fughetta is centrally located, and it offers doubles, triples, and quads with shared baths. A laundromat and Internet access are on the premises. See guest comments.

Gabriele
This inexpensive hotel is between the Termini Station and the Basilica di S. Maria Maggiore. The 1- to 5-person bedrooms are air-conditioned, and you can rent bikes or scooters through the hotel. See guest comments.

Malta
The family-run Hotel Malta offers 1-, 2-, or 3-person rooms with shared baths in the Termini district. Breakfast is optional.

Ottaviano
Let's Go recommends this hostel, which offers both shared and private rooms. Showers are included in the rates.

Pensione Fawlty Towers
This 15-room hostel is featured in several travel guides.

Sandra
The Albergo Sandra is a 10-minute walk from the Termini station.

Sorggiono Blu
Like most of the budget hotels on this page, the one-star Hotel Sorggiono Blu is within walking distance of the Termini station. Single, double, triple, and quad rooms are air-conditioned and equipped with satellite TV and safes.

Sandy
"The only hostel-style place near the Colosseum" is seven blocks from the Termini railway station.
