Hotel criteria

To be included in ANTO's "Hotels for North Americans" program, a hotel must meet the following criteria:

• It accepts all major American credit cards and is connected to an international reservation system.

• All personnel are fluent in English, and printed materials are available in English.

• Guests can choose non-smoking rooms and non-smoking tables in the hotel's restaurants.

• 24-hour phone service, fax, and modem connections are available. (If you're inexperienced with using a modem overseas, let the hotel know of your plans, and it should be able to supply any phone adapter that may be required.)

• Ice water is served at all meals.

• English-language television (generally CNN) and newspapers are available to guests.
