Entertainment

Mybasel.ch: Kino
Movie schedules and theatre locations are from a local German-language site.

Blues Priority
Even in prosperous Basel, people sing the blues.

Pasión Flamenco
Tired of Alphorns, yodeling, and techno? Spend your vacation learning flamenco dancing at this school in central Basel. Private lessons are available, and the school will also stage performances for private groups.

Jazz.edu
The "jazz campus" of the Musik-Akademie der Stadt Basel sponsors performances and workshops by world-famous artists and groups.

Basler Rock
This site features two long-established bands: PowerPlay (the "ultimate rockband of Basel, Switzerland,") and Tell Rock.

Events

ArtBasel
The city's International Art Fair takes place in June. (I've set this ill-behaved site to open in a new browser window so you won't get trapped on its pages.)

Fasnacht
Basel's annual Fasnacht, or Carnival, is a Swiss version of Mardi Gras. Highlights include Guggenmusik bands,  open-air skits, a children's parade, and uninhibited carousing. For more information, see Basler Fasnacht Online.

Media

Radio Basilisk
