Boat Cruises from Biel/Bienne
Continued from page 1

Biel/Bienne - Murten (Three lakes tour)

A daily boat sails from Biel/Bienne at 9:05 a.m. After sailing the 15-km (9-mile) length of the Bielersee, it traverses a canal to Lake Neuchâtel, cuts across the lake to another canal, then crosses the little Murtensee before arriving in Murten at 12:30 p.m.

The return sailing leaves Murten at 2:15 p.m. It takes a longer route than the morning boat, stopping at Neuchâtel and reaching Biel/Bienne at 6:00 p.m.

Biel/Bienne - Solothurn (Aare River tour)

Depending on the season and the day of the week, boats leave Biel/Bienne from two to five times a day. The journey down the Aare River to Solothurn takes about 2-1/2 hours. From there, you can return by boat or catch one of the frequent trains on the Olten-Solothurn-Biel/Bienne route. (The train journey takes only 20 to 30 minutes.)

From mid-July to mid-August, the schedule includes a breakfast boat at 8:45 p.m., a lunch boat at 11:20 a.m., and a dinner boat at 4:50 p.m. In the opposite direction, a breakfast boat leaves Solothurn at 8:30 a.m. and a breakfast/lunch boat departs at 9:40 a.m.

Note: Times are obviously subject to change, so double-check locally before making firm plans.
