Swiss Open-Air Museum, Ballenberg
The Freilichtmuseum is celebrating its 20th anniversary in 1998. It has more than 80 buildings, 250 farm animals, and demonstrations of historical crafts in an 80-hectare (200-acre) site.

SBB Brünig
The Brünigbahn's scenic route connects Interlaken and Lucerne via Brienz, Meiringen, and Lungern. Check the "Snow 'n' Rail" ski packages in winter.

Brienz-Rothorn Bahn
Switzerland's oldest steam railway has been ascending the Rothorn, 15 km from Interlaken, since 1892. The cogwheel ttrains run from the end of May until late October.

Brienzersee Rockfestival
This festival takes place near Brienz, in the Bernese Oberland, in early August. A free shuttle bus runs to the festival site from the Brienz railroad station.
