Riffelalp Resort site plan: This architect's rendering shows
what to expect during the new hotel's first summer season in 2001. An antique
electric tram will bring guests and their luggage to the hotel from the
Riffelalp station of the Gornergrat cogwheel railroad (1/2 km away). The
building in the foreground is the old Anglican Chapel, which has been renovated
for concerts and other events. The tall cream-colored structure is a surviving
building from the old Riffelalp Grand Hotel. Newer rooms are under the
chalet-style roofs, which also house the registration area, lobby, bar, main
restaurant, and conference room. In the basement (under the red tram) are the
Walliser Keller restaurant, a wine bar, and a two-lane bowling alley.
