The Hotel Writes

"Badrutt's Palace Hotel,
situated amidst breathtakingly beautiful and unspoiled scenery, has long been
hailed as a landmark in the center of St. Moritz and is the ultimate expression
of the Swiss Alps region. A favorite of celebrities and royalty alike since its
opening in 1896, The Palace Hotel offers 209 guestrooms and suites with stunning
views of the Swiss Alps. Guests find the ultimate in
relaxation at the spa, exciting nightlife at the Kings Club, and world-renown
cuisine in the hotel's restaurants and nearby Chesa Veglia."
Review
Durant Imboden:
Badrutt's Palace has one of the best locations in the village, along with a
grotto swimming pool and other amenities. Don't let the "celebrities and
royalty" hype scare you off--your fellow guests are more likely to be corporate
executives, lawyers, and orthodontists than crown princes and opera stars.
Dinner
in the main dining room is an experience in itself, with a pecking order of
captains, waiters, and apprentices to serve up the generous quantities of
Continental dishes and Engadine specialties. I once watched as a captain warmed
a plate by spinning it through the flame of a rechaud on his fingertips--an
impressive display of skill that might have won applause in a less restrained
venue such as Planet Hollywood or TGI Friday's.
I strongly recommend taking at least one meal at the Chesa Veglia (the hotel's annex restaurant in a
restored Engadine farmhouse across the street). The steak
cooked at tableside is superb, and the Chesa Veglia's atmosphere combines
impeccable service with
Heidi coziness.
