Hotel Cipriani: Grapes from the vineyards in the Cipriani's garden are
used to make Casanova Salso, a wine bottled for the hotel by J.B.
Sherwood's Capannelle winery in Tuscany.
Giudecca, the island where the Hotel Cipriani is located, was famous for its wines in
the 18th Century. "Salso" refers to the salt air that gave a characteristic
flavor to Giudecca's wines, while the "Casanova" name is in honor of Giacomo
Casanova, who practiced his art of seduction on Caterina Capretta in the gardens
of Giudecca.
