Making reservations

We saved 30 euros by booking through Venere (Italy's leading discount-reservations site):

For more information on the Hotel San Moisè, or to check for occasional house specials that may be cheaper than Venere's discount rates, see the hotel's Web site at www.sanmoise.it.

Directions to the hotel

Hotel San Moise photoThe Hotel San Moisè is on the Calle del Cristo in San Marco, about a five-minute walk from the Piazza San Marco. Here's how to reach it:

By water taxi: Just tell the boatman "Hotel San Moisè." The water taxi will drop you off at the hotel entrance.

By Alilaguna airport boat: Get off at the San Marco stop, which is by the former royal gardens. Walk left to the Calle Vallaresso, turn right, and go one long block to the Salizzada San Moisè. Turn left.

Follow the Salizzada San Moisè to the Campo San Moisè (where you'll see a big church) and across a bridge to the Calle Larga XVII Marzo (which is called the Viale 22 Marzo on some maps). Look for a small "Hotel San Moisè" sign like the one in the inset photo. When you see it, turn right into the Calle del Cristo, walk to the end, and go around the corner to the hotel entrance. (The entire walk is simpler--and shorter--than it sounds.)

From the San Marco Vallaresso vaporetto stop: Exit the boat platform and head straight down the Calle Vallaresso to the Salizzada San Moisè; then continue with these directions.

From a cruise ship:

  • From the main Stazione Marittima basin of the Venice Cruise Terminal, you normally can take the Alilaguna Blu Stazione Marittima-San Marco service on Saturday, Sunday, Monday, or Tuesday during the cruise season. See the Alilaguna Web site for a current schedule.

  • From the cruise terminal's San Basilio pier (which is used by smaller ships), walk across the wooden bridge to the San Basilio vaporetto stop, where you can catch a No. 2 boat in the direction of San Zaccaria . The San Zaccaria vaporetto stop is just above the Piazza San Marco. Walk into the Piazza, head for the narrow end with columns, and exit through the left archway (the one in the corner). Continue straight ahead until you're in the Salizzada San Moisè, then continue with these directions.

  • Some cruise lines provide a free shuttle from the pier to the Alilaguna boat stop. (See "Alilaguna airport boat" directions above.)

Notes:

  • If you're going to the airport, vaporetto, or cruise terminal from the Hotel San Moisè, just follow the above directions in reverse.

  • The hotel's location page has a map that you can zoom in on for a closer view.
