Murano Canals and Boats
from: Fisheye Venice

Murano is a great place for boatspotters: Its canals are filled with
motoscafi, water taxis, barges, and small boats of every kind. We took
the
photo above as a barge carrying gas bottles roared away from a quay near the Santi
Maria e Donato basilica and the Museo Vetrario or Glass Museum (see inset
photo), which was
founded in 1861 and is one of the island's tourist highlights. Entrance is free
with the Venice Museum Pass; the museum is closed on Wednesdays.
